Cortisol Testing
A cortisol test is done to measure the level of the hormone cortisol in the blood.
Cortisol has many functions. It helps the body use sugar (glucose) and fat for energy (metabolism), and it helps the body manage stress. Cortisol levels can be affected by many conditions, such as physical or emotional stress, strenuous activity, infection, or injury.
- Blood cortisol testing: Done in the am at the lab
- Saliva 4 point Cortisol DUTCH test: The DUTCH Adrenal panel provides free cortisol patterns that parallel saliva with the addition of metabolite measurements for an improved marker for total cortisol production.
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) Breath Testing
Genova’s SIBO Profiles are non-invasive breath tests which capture exhaled hydrogen (H2) and methane (CH4) gases following patient ingestion of a lactulose solution to evaluate bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine. Symptoms of SIBO are non-specific, encompassing abdominal pain/distention, diarrhea, and flatulence.
Labs/Assessments
Naturopathic Doctors have access to run numerous labs and specialized functional tests to better assess and treat their patient needs. Below are some of the tests/labs and treatments that we offer:
- General Blood Work: CBC, Ferritin, B12, Iron panel, lipid panel and other comprehensive lab work can be requested by our Naturopathic Doctors using LifeLabs of Ontario.
- Fatigue Panel: If you are suffering from symptoms of fatigue an ND can help identify the root cause by running a serum fatigue panel.
- The Healthy Living Assessment and Enhanced Living Assessment: are comprehensive panels of blood tests that provide insight into liver, kidney, blood, electrolyte, heart and metabolic health. The Healthy Living Assessment may be used as an initial screening test, or ordered as a follow-up panel.
- Fertility Panel: The Female Fertility Panel provides insight into the most common hormone abnormalities that can affect fertility including elevated prolactin, thyroid disorders, progesterone insufficiency, low testosterone in men, and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
- Female Hormone Panel: The Female Hormone Panel may be recommended when hormone imbalance is suspected or when the patient presents with weight management issues, chronic fatigue, or mood disorders.
- Men’s Health Panel: provides insight via the biomarkers most relevant to men’s health. The Men’s Health panel may be recommended when androgens are low, estrogens are high or when signs and symptoms related to sexual or cardiac health are noted.
- Autoimmune Panel: provides insight into levels of a variety of disease-specific antibodies. Research shows that organ-specific (e.g. thyroid peroxidase) and non-organ specific antibodies (e.g. rheumatoid factor) rise steadily in the years prior to diagnosis of auto-immune disease.
IgG Food Intolerance Test and Microbiome Stool Testing (BiomeFx)
There is growing evidence that food-specific IgG antibodies can be linked to many chronic health conditions. It can be normal for our bodies’ defense system to produce some levels of IgG antibodies to specific foods and combine with the proteins of these foods to form complexes, cross the intestinal wall and enter the blood stream. When the immune system is working well, these complexes are removed by macrophages. But if there is an overload or a poor immune system, these complexes can circulate in the blood stream and deposit in different tissues, leading to inflammation.
Initial visit: Functional Assessment and protocol 1 hour including 30 minute follow up

Optimal Health — It All Starts with the gut
Research overwhelmingly indicates that gut health impacts overall health. The gut microbiome plays a critical role in mediating the effects of diet and other factors on digestive, immune, metabolic, skin, brain, and neuroendocrine health.
Results allow us to personalize gut healing protocols that optimize overall health. Get to the root cause of your symptoms using this comprehensive stool test.
